67 MINUTES IN THE CLASSROOM FOR SPORTING CHANCE.

South Africa and the rest of the world celebrated in style the legacy of a phenomenal man last week.  A simple ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY’ for a man who has galvanized a nation and its people can never be enough, and hence why the day had to be dedicated to the betterment of our country, as well as the rest of the world. Since Nelson Mandela regarded education as the bedrock of our society, we at Sporting Chance, decided to dedicate our 67Minutes in the classroom.

Sporting Chance took to Sobambisana Primary School in Khayelithsa, where we did our bit in brightening up the classroom of Grade R learners by painting the walls. We did this in the hope that it would act as inspiration to the learners as well as the teachers at the school. We believe that creating a positive ambiance will go a long way in encouraging learners to take to their books and to carry on the powerful legacy instilled by leaders such as Madiba.

We arrived dressed for the occasion: armed with brushes and an array of colourful paints. Sixty seven minutes was not enough, in fact we spent close on two hours perfecting colourful images that would make a difference to these children’s daily schooling experience. Sporting Chance would like to extend a word of thanks to Sobambisana Primary School for making Mandela Day a day to remember. We continue to hold our children and education in high regard, and initiatives such as these can only help improve the children’s education experience.

We can only hope that Sporting Chance and all the other organisations and individuals who partook in this experience have made Rolihlahla Nelson Mandela a happy man, by understanding the essence and values of ‘Madiba Day’.
