AN EXPLOSION OF EXCITEMENT AS STREET SOCCER KICKS OFF

The excitement that was palpable at the KIA Street Soccer road shows has finally been released as weeks of health road shows and training have culminated in the launch of the KIA Street Soccer league.  Five thousand players have taken to the streets to show the flair and skills that are waiting to be discovered in 40 communities nationwide.

Not even adverse weather conditions have been a dampener on proceedings, as both players and coaches have been keen for games to go ahead even as dark clouds, wind and the cold settled over some communities.

In continuing with our objectives of using physical activity and sport as a vehicle for educating children about the values of embracing diversity as well as equipping them with the skills necessary to overcome today’s challenges, the players have also been involved in interactive health talks on match days.  These have helped reinforce the health message first tackled on the road shows, and we hope this adds to their knowledge.

More excitement is in store, with the prospect of a national final.
