FREE STATE AIMS FOR TWO SUCCESSFUL KIA STREET SOCCER CHALLENGES

Aiming to make their second KIA Street Soccer appearance even better than the first, the Free State province got their leg of the KIA Street Soccer road shows off to a fantastic start as players, coaches and the community met at Impucuko Primary School for the first in a week of Road Shows in the province.

Having thoroughly enjoyed their debut in 2012, their involvement in the 4th KIA Street Soccer programme was one we looked forward to.  It was with great fanfare that we were reunited with the Kutlwanong community in the mining town of Odendaalsrus.

The road shows, focusing on Nutrition, Environmental Awareness, Road Safety and Physical Activity as well as training of the coaches and coordinators, make up the first two phases of the three-pronged KIA Street Soccer programme.  They are an eye on the true purpose of KIA Street Soccer – using football as a vehicle to educate.  We can play football and enjoy it, but when partnered with education, we go that much further in building our nation.

Thanks to our sponsors and partners Kia Motors, Mille, Town Lodge, Dawn Wing, ProNutro, Media partners Supersport Let’s Play, Good Hope fm and Ukhozi fm, our PSL partners Ajax Cape Town and Amazulu; as well as the provincial Departments of Health for the continued support.
