Sporting Chance and the Khayelitsha Cricket Club on Wednesday joined Adidas South Africa and Graeme Smith in hosting a development coaching clinic to commemorate Graeme Smith’s 100th Test, the momentous occasion taking place in July 2012 at the Oval in London.
Staged at the Khayelitsha Cricket Oval, the clinic served as a way for the nations’ Test captain to interact with fans that would ordinarily not have the opportunity to see him play, gleaning all they could from his expertise, while also marking a historic event in Smith’s life. It was an experience to treasure, capped by the question-and-answer session after the coaching, where Smith emphasised the need for discipline, hard work and sacrifice.
In keeping with the spirit of 100, Adidas and Smith gave away 100 cricket boots to the players and their coaches, adding to the t-shirts and shorts that had been distributed before the clinic started.
Thank you to Graeme Smith, Adidas SA and the Khayelitsha Cricket Club for a fantastic afternoon!
