It is down to the wire as we countdown to the end of the 2012 Easter clinics. Children have come in their numbers for the chance to build on their knowledge of sport, both in terms of theory and actual practical output. The focus has been on a variety of sport, namely cricket, rugby, soccer, and hockey (on both grass and Astroturf), as trained coaches have taken the children through various skills and exercises.
But it seems hockey is the choice sport, as over both weeks, girls and boys have arrived at the clinics with their sticks, ready for action. But, it is not that they just showed up, but that there has been a large turnout over both weeks. With the SA ladies team having already qualified for the London Olympics, and the men’s team scheduled to play in Olympic Qualifiers in Japan at the end of April, this might be the time for hockey to grow even more in popularity. Who knows, we may yet have a few budding national players at the clinics!
Thanks to sponsors Flip File, Hi-Tec, Kauai, Gunn & Moore, SuperSport Let’s Play, TK-Hockey, Sportsmans Warehouse and Bic for their continued support.
