Since the conception of the KIA Street Soccer programme in 2009 it has been a privilege to work with our title sponsor KIA Motors SA. Through their sponsorship the Street Soccer concept was turned into a reality and their enthusiasm and passion about the initiative has contributed greatly to its success over the years. KIA Motors SA has remained committed to Sporting Chance and to the vision of truly living the legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
KIA Motors SA has over the past 4 years through the KIA Street Soccer, consistently granted us the opportunity to bring together thousands upon thousands of boys and girls, from communities across the entire South African landscape. We have witnessed them coming together in the spirit of fun and sportsmanship, highlighting our country’s “Ubuntu” culture.
With the financial backing of KIA Motors SA, the initiative has been solidly implemented and we have been able to successfully equip all the participants with so much more than just a platform to play their favourite sport. KIA Motors SA has provided the young participants with an opportunity to learn crucial life skills covering aspects of road safety, personal hygiene, nutrition, environmental awareness and sports etiquette.
The KIA Motors SA team’s co-operation and hands-on-involvement in the programme, has always added a sense of prestige and it was fantastic to have Marketing Director of KIA Motors SA, David Sieff, handing over the trophies at both the Gauteng provincial finals last month and at the National finals spectacle in Dobsonville, Soweto last weekend. The moment when he handed over the KIA Street Soccer National Champs trophy to the captain of the deserving New Brighton team was something special and bore testament to the hard work that has been put in by all involved at KIA Motors SA.
This entire adventure would not have been possible without the consistent support we have received from KIA Motors SA throughout the years. Through their investment, the KIA Street Soccer programme since its inception, has provided over 19 000 deserving children with an opportunity to be involved in a meaningful initiative and to learn imperative life lessons, while engaging with youngsters from diverse culture groups and different communities.
Once again, Thank You to the entire KIA family for the on-going support, long may this initiative continue to blossom…
