KZN PROVINCIAL FINALS A SUCCESS!

The KIA Street Soccer programme kicked off earlier in the year, becoming a platform for approximately 6000 participants from 40 communities nationwide to showcase their skills and learn crucial life lessons.

On Thursday all roads led to Phoenix in Durban for the KZN KIA Street Soccer provincial finals, where we were met by sunny skies and a vibrant atmosphere.

Opening proceedings was Kareena Dyand from Phoenix, a young participant who touched spectators and stakeholders at one of the league matches, after delivering an astounding ‘thank you’ speech.

Participants and supporters were once again treated to an entertaining performance by the Mille freestylers, topped off by an appearance by the local PSL outfit Amazulu, who were accompanied by their GM Peter O’ Connor.

Round robin matches between regions progressed smoothly, and the presence of their Amazulu heroes certainly urged the participants to play with passion and tenacity, highlighting the importance of dedication and perseverance.

After an afternoon of competitive action it was defending champions ‘Edameni’ from Marianhill that came out on top, beating ‘Dr. JL Dube’ from KwaMashu 2-0 in an entertaining final to retain the title.

The prize giving ceremony was accompanied by continuous applause as the winners walked away with their Provincial Champs trophy, Pro Nutro tog bags, and their Mille Champion Packs containing their gear for the National finals.

Officials from our technical sponsor, Mille, spontaneously added to the prize list, by giving away 7 pairs of shoes to the coaches, to acknowledge and thank them for playing their respective roles and making a difference. And as has become custom, Mc Donald’s provided all the KZN participants and coaches, with refreshments to conclude a fantastic day.

We’ve experienced three successful provincial finals, and this week the Sporting Chance Team makes its way to Gauteng and the Free State. We have three provincial representatives confirmed and we are just a few weeks away from the National finals taking place in Johannesburg on the 14th of September.

We thank our loyal and supportive sponsors KIA Motors; technical sponsor Mille; Logistical partner Dawn Wing; associate sponsor Kruger Bets CSI; Media partners Super Sport Let’s Play, Good Hope fm and Ukhozi fm; and PSL partners Ajax Cape Town and Amazulu for their involvement and their unwavering support.
