So clinics have been competing with the weather this week as bitterly cold mornings have given rise to a few feelings of weariness. Conditions aren’t ideal, and the ideal place to be is indoors. This has been no more evident than on the past two mornings when rain, wind and a plain winter chill settled in for more than the fair share of the day. Even as we travelled between Macassar, Khayelitsha and Langa, the mist and cold air wouldn’t go away.
But in the words of Garrison Keillor “Nothing you do for a child is ever wasted” and these are the words that have carried us through bitter mornings. We see this in how the children have responded to each day of clinics, and how they themselves keep coming back.
Each day is not wasted. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it!
Thanks to UCT’s Department of Sports Management, The Nassbaum Foundation, The Solstice Foundation as well as Foodzone for their support in making the clinics possible.
