“ONE SHOULD NOT ATTEND EVEN THE END OF THE WORLD WITHOUT A GOOD BREAKFAST”

The results of poor nutrition are well documented with some agreement on the importance of breakfast to start one’s day and the effects a breakfast-less diet has, especially on the growing child.  However living in a country with our demographics, having that morning meal isn’t always a priority.  Some of our KIA Street Soccer communities are like that, with each day starting on an empty stomach.  It is sometimes only thanks to the Department of Basic Education’s National School Nutrition Programme that some of the children get by.

By partnering with Bokomo Foods we hope to ease this “no breakfast” state of mind.  We realise that it is not by their doing, and so we offer a hand where we can.  The participants walk away with nutritious offerings from Bokomo during the road shows with the emphasis on the children who face long days at school on empty stomachs.  We recognise that to function optimally for half a day, you need the right start.  We extend this not only to the children, but to the community at large, through the coaches and coordinators.

Not only are we teaching them about nutrition, but we’re putting it into practice to get them through the day.  We believe Robert A. Heinlein’s words for these children “one should not attend even the end of the world without a good breakfast.”

Thanks to Bokomo Foods for continuing to support the Sporting Chance vision.
