PUTTING OUR MONEY WHERE OUR MOUTH IS AS EASTER CLINICS GET UNDERWAY

Sometimes circumstances force us to take a hard look at ourselves and what we stand for. The 2013 Easter Holiday Coaching Clinics have presented such an opportunity for us. While looking at attendance numbers considering the venue hire costs, coaches fees, marketing material and other administrative functions, the temptation would be to focus on our bottom line and no further.

But being citizens of a hard-beaten yet victorious country, we cannot turn a blind eye to others. We know the financial sacrifices involved in getting children to the clinics. Just this week new rate and utility hikes were proposed for Cape Town, add this to the looming petrol price increase, and it is clear that households are under strain.

Therefore when parents can only sign up for clinics for a few days at a time, instead of a week, we understand. Parents who wish to register more than one child are hardest hit. For this reason even after looking at our bottom line, sometimes we have to make allowances for those who mean well for their children. This week we took a hard look at ourselves, offering a family spots at our Easter Clinics for the full week at less than the cost price, when they had signed up for only two days.

We don’t promise to do this all the time, but in this instance and for this clinic, it was the right thing to do and made a huge difference for this family which is what giving children a ‘Sporting Chance’ is all about.  It’s not all about the bottom line!

May the little ones reap the benefits…

Thanks to our sponsors Flip File, GM, HiTec, Kauai, Sportsmans Warehouse and Supersport Let’s Play for the continued support and for allowing us such opportunities.
