Sporting Chance had the privilege of sharing in an encouraging national occasion on Tuesday when given the opportunity to sit in on a joint sitting of Parliament to recognise the achievements of the 2012 Paralympics Team. It was a truly special occasion, highlighted by the united stand shown by all at the joint sitting. This was also the time to pay tribute to Natalie du Toit for her contribution to the nation over three extremely successful Paralympics campaigns.
Following a dominant performance at the Beijing Games in 2008, there was much expectation for the 2012 London Paralympics. These men and women – both young and old – delivered, bagging 29 medals (eight gold, twelve silver, and nine bronze) ensuring that the national flag would be hoisted high several times over, and the national anthem would be heard at the Olympic Stadium.
They did the nation proud…we salute them!
Thanks to the Parliament of South Africa for extending an invite to Sporting Chance.
