Channelling their Italian namesakes, Welkom’s Juventus FC outclassed the opposition with fluid tackles and deft passes on their way to being crowned the Free State KIA Street Soccer provincial champions. Try as they did, the other regions couldn’t match the sheer skill shown by both Welkom sides…no surprise then that Juventus faced street neighbours Zwakala FC in the final!
In a first time showing for the province of Free State, the community of Thabong in Welkom were friendly hosts, and true to their name were welcoming of the four other communities gathered on Modikeng Street. Although the hosts were victorious, the day was won by all teams involved. The spirit with which SAFA Lejweleputswa and the respective communities embraced the programme turning it into a true all-regions affair inspired us.
