SUCCESSFUL CALYPSO CRICKET TOURNAMENT CONCLUDES IN EAST LONDON

The East London leg of the 2009 Pick n Pay Calypso Cricket Festival in partnership with Virgin Active and Sporting Chance, as well as media partners Lets Play, concluded on Friday after two successful days.

Although the rain pelted down consistently on the beaches, nothing came in the way of over 400 children who were having fun in a safe environment whilst perfecting their cricketing skills.

“Rain was no deterrent for the kids of East London as they turned out literally in their hundreds to play Calypso cricket in order to be talent spotted” said MD of Sporting Chance, Brad Bing.

Deon Muller, Coaching Manager from Border Cricket Board spent some time on the beach and noticed the abundance of talent which was evident over two days. With over 400 children who were bussed in to attend the festival from impoverished areas, the children took full advantage of the opportunity and honed their skills whilst having fun.
