THE FINAL SHOWPIECE.

To understand the impact that the KIA Street Soccer has had on all individuals involved, one would have had to have been a part of the thrilling and fulfilling journey from the onset, as no words can describe the amount of physical and emotional intensity that this programme embodies. The 2013 programme has certainly reached an unprecedented level and now there’s only one week to go before the National Finals spectacle: the day we have all been eagerly awaiting!

The five provincial leagues have concluded, with the action beginning in the Western Cape and stretching right through to some extremely remote stretches in the Free State province. 6000 boys and girls, nationwide, made soccer part of their daily routines, eagerly participating in the programme and making a conscious decision to adopt the vital life skills along the way. Six months later 30 children have fought bravely and battled their equally talented opponents, and are now waiting for those most crucial moments this coming Saturday in Dobsonville, Soweto.

What’s set to transpire this week will be a life-changing experience for all of the participants, as they experience travelling via aeroplane and staying in a hotel for the first time in their lives. This reality just makes the entire experience and the hard work that has gone into the conception and the execution of the programme, worthwhile and fulfilling.

New Brighton, Marianhill, Allanridge, Katlehong and Mitchell’s Plain are set to go head to head at midday in Johannesburg, Soweto this Saturday. Games will kick off after a great entertainment line-up, including an act by the Mille freestylers as well as performances by Lilly Million and JR. The results of the months of planning and the action that has taken place on our national streets, will be on display at the KIA Street Soccer National finals.

We’ve been extremely privileged as an organisation, to have been at the forefront of this programme, immersed in the ground work, and now witnessing this event which has become a phenomenon, continue to change lives and reach unparalleled heights.

We continue to thank our sponsors – KIA Motors; technical sponsor Mille; Logistical partner Dawn Wing; associate sponsor Kruger Bets CSI; Media partners Super Sport Let’s Play, Good Hope fm and Ukhozi fm; and PSL partners Ajax Cape Town and Amazulu, for playing an instrumental role in supporting the initiative in their respective capacities.
