THE KIA STREET SOCCER REGIONAL FINALS KICK OFF!

The journey to the KIA Street Soccer Provincial Finals has begun!

The Kia Street Soccer initiative started early in the year and has seen five regions namely Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu Natal, Gauteng and Free State participating. However, with a visibly increasing fan base, it’s evident that the Kia Street Soccer programme will continue to add value and play an increasingly meaningful role, imparting valuable knowledge and skills sets to numerous communities throughout the country.  6000 children have taken part this year and no doubt this number will continue to swell with the continuation of the project.

Representatives from the ten Western Cape Regions battled it out at the start of the weekend to be crowned regional champions and the last standing twenty teams are now more than ready to take on the next level.

A celebratory ambience was witnessed around greater Cape Town and it has certainly given the Sporting Chance team and regional champions who have officially made it to the provincial finals, a taste of what’s to come when the competition reaches the next stage.

KZN and Eastern Cape regional finals will be underway later this week followed by Gauteng and the Free State.

The first provincial finals will take place at Gugulethu Square on 14th of August, where the top twenty Western Cape teams will battle it out for the title of Provincial Champs. The victorious team will then represent the Western Cape at National Final level, where the 5 provincial champions will compete in the second annual National KIA Street Soccer final in Johannesburg on the 14th of September.
